Re: General discussion chat What kind of car is that. My neighbor has one and its always bugged me that I don't know the make & model
Re: General discussion chat in the states, that's a Suzuki Aerio. Theres the Hatch 5 door and a 4 door. The Liana/Aerio was used for a while on Top Gear's "Reasonably Priced Car" or whatever it was called, and then they switched to the Kia Cee'd. Both vehicles, might I add, are available in Forza 4, (FM5 doesn't have the Liana though, but the Kia...?)
Re: General discussion chat You can see that from your house? Sweet! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Re: General discussion chat Got my first car today! 1969 MGB GT Needs a lot of work, but I got it for free! Here's a Dropbox link for those who want to see what I've been up to on it: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ruuq8re0icrh4j0/AACQJAurWG2fp6X0QbaGMz5Xa
Re: General discussion chat For free? Wow. In the condition it is in, I'd suggest restoring it. If it's simply too damaged try to turn it into a rat rod (Strip the paint work and rust it, get some crappy steelies, strip the interior, get a better engine etc.)
Re: General discussion chat My dads friend moved abroad along time ago and hasn't been able to ship it with him so gave it to me to restore and use! I'm going to restore it with the money I would have spent on a car in the first place, it's all structurally sound, just needs some new body panels (Boot lid, front left wing, bonnet), a new interior! The only problem is the engine is currently a non-runner, but 6 years ago the engine was restored, but it has been sitting in garage since.
Re: General discussion chat AAGGGHH, I want one so bad but they cost so much in Australia, I'd trade the HiLux in for this any day. The Design looks so good, I'm Jealous of you Americans and your Car Industry.
Re: General discussion chat lol, you don't hear that every day. That Ram is cool looking, but unless you have a large trailer that needs hauled, duely pickups don't make much sense do to high price and bad gas mileage.
Re: General discussion chat This is gonna add to your collection of old things! Sweet! (That is a sweet car though)
Re: General discussion chat Thats one nice first car. Do plan on doing the work yourself? looks like a fun project.
Re: General discussion chat So, I love quake, doom and rage, figured I should try wolfenstein: the new order. Looked on steam, costs £35. Was in tesco today, costs £45 on consoles or they have the PC retail version for £20. Yet the PC retail version is effectively redeemed as a steam game anyway. So I can either buy the game directly on steam for £35, or I can buy the game for steam externally to steam plus get 4 DVD's in a nice little box too for £20. Logic. - - - Updated - - - Mate and I started pulling materials together for some home blacksmithing. As little financial investment as possible at this time. So far we have the top to our forge, a suitable metal block to act as an improvised anvil and a set of bellows (yes, actual air bellows) for a grand total of £0. We are going for the classic brake drum forge setup. The anvil. Apparently its the weight for a boat anchor, weighs in at 56lbs and is essentially a cast iron cube. Its not as big as one would like, also iron isnt considered a good material for an anvil, but as we are not planning on doing anything until july and it cost us nothing we have plenty of time to replace it with something better. The forge top. Hit a scrapyard, they had some brake drums which were absolutely perfect but they were still attached to the truck. We didn't have the tools to remove them and the scrapyard owners said they do not loan tools and will only provide assistance in moving vehicles, any parts to be removed must be done by the end user. We did search their scrap metal bins though, found a partly dismantled car interior fan, annoyingly the actual shroud to it was missing so it was useless, otherwise it would have been a perfect blower unit. Tried all the local garages in town. 1 I know to have very pleasant staff who said if they had any they would be perfectly happy for us to take them away for free, one went off out back and came back with another guy who said the scrap dealer had already been and taken them 2 days ago, with modern cars switching to disks and drums needing replacing so rarely they don't tend to get alot through, but he did offer to take a contact number and phone us next time they have some. Most of the other garages had nothing, final garage left in town had a perfect substitute. The raised section in the middle of the brake disk, we found an old worn disk in which that centre section was unusually large and deep, its not as good as a brake drum no but it is still a nice little bowl we can put charcoal in and will withstand the heat. Garage we found it at told us they would be perfectly happy with us taking the entire scrap pile if they wanted but there wasn't much else in it that we wanted (they had an exhaust manifold I wouldnt have minded polishing up and putting on my window ledge but I dont have room for it, it was buried and it was raining). When we find an actual drum we can simply swap over. The bellows. Lord knows where they came from. Mate simply said he found them in the garage and no one in the house had any recollection of where they came from. Aiming to replace that with a car interior fan or hair drier though rather than manually pumping them. So there we go. Blacksmithing = remarkably low cost.
Re: General discussion chat don't worry, the Rams SUCK!! They fall apart after 2 years. shameful build quality. and not safe at all.
Re: General discussion chat For reasons unknown to me, my parents hire cleaners to clean the house every Monday and require us to all leave the house to be out of the way. This monday my mum went into town and realised she left her phone at home, apparently thought it was no biggy as she can always get it back later. I got back home to find her tearing the house apart looking for it, ringing it from the landline and all sorts, no phone. I went out again to meet a mate and left her to it. Come home to find my brother used the find my iphone feature on mums iPad, where does the phone get tracked down to? A housing estate (we live on a farm and mum had not been to any housing estates that day). Take a drive past the specific house and sure enough there is a silver bmw convertible with a plate number I won't disclose. Double check the CCTV, sure enough the cleaning woman arrived in a silver bmw convertible with the same plate number (and also only stayed for half the time the company billed us for). He took numerous screenshots of the app throughout the day showing it not moving from that address. Phoned the police to report the theft as you do. Then phoned the cleaning company to say the police have been contacted over theft of the phone and complain about misbilling us to which they deny both claims, company owner says she'll contact the cleaner anyway though, a few minutes later it disappears from tracking.... Police have been around and searched the house and car apparently (mum has friend living opposite) but we havent heard back from them yet. The officer that came around to get the statement from mum though has told us apparently GPS tracking to an address with the same vehicle as shown on our CCTV is absolutely no evidence. Stepdad is also taking legal action against the company over the misbillings they refuse to refund and repeatedly deny are occurring even after being sent a DVD backup from our CCTV. It has since turned out a small silver bracelet belonging to my 6 year old sister is also missing, although we havent added that to the theft case as it may well be that my sister has worn it when she isnt supposed to and lost it. To me. This just reinforces the point that we don't need to hire cleaners.
Re: General discussion chat Thread got deleted, let's not keep talking about it until it's clear what happened. So sixsixseven, what a weird story lol
