I did until COVID-19 created a massive rental car glut and I got laid off.
Yesterday 3500 rental cars burned up in a fire in a field where they were being stored at Southwest Florida International airport. My conservative estimate is an $87,000,000 loss.

10/10 That’s some form of insurance fraud.

    *Rav4, my bad.
I don't doubt it. The travel industry is hemorrhaging money right now.

modern cars are automatically better and if you don't agree you're backwards and not entitled to an opinion

You may already noticed that modern vehicles that have computerized electronics, handle worse than older vehicles. In older vehicles electronic "assists"(pronunced "interference") are not available. Vehicle engineers have to tune the chassis and suspension very pricisely to get a good handling and safety. In modern vehicle with conputerized electonics, they don't have to tune the suspension, all they have to do is to make the ESC very difficult to turn off, and add a speed limiter to make sure that drivers not able to "inadvertently" discover the poor handling due to lack of suspension tuning.

wait so you're telling me in order to accurately simulate ECU nannies
you have to do the same thing that real cars do?!

    that's such an alien concept
it's almost enough to get me to get a car with ABS let alone TCS or ESC

If I had US$100 for every time I saw older Americans complaining about modern pickup trucks on the net, I would be able to buy a decent new pickup truck.

Cars.com already chose one as its luxury car of the year. I'm fairly sure society is already doomed at this point.

Because it's not even a car. It's a pickup truck. It's not necessarily morally wrong to have some amenities in a pickup truck, but they should always be work vehicles first and foremost, and should lend themselves well to customization. The Cowboy Cadillac has seriously gone too far at this point.

Nowadays they’re being adopted as family cars, and because families want comfort, the market has switched. Have you seen a base Pentastar Ram? They’re very stripped down and affordable. Those that can afford to buy a 2500 Limited with a Cummins are completely entitled to do so. There are trim levels to any car. Complaining about cowboy Cadillacs is like complaining about Toyota offering a Camry V6: a luxury-packed version of a plain-jane economy car.

EDIT: Truck prices are inflated, I will admit. And don’t be afraid to have a differing opinion.

bringing this discussion away from the update speculation thread, to keep it on topic
I'm sorry, what? as far as 6 cylinders, sure, the grey motor was based on a buick design, but the red motor, which was a clean sheet design, was used in everything from the EH (in 1963) on to the VK in 1986, and only after that did they use nissan/GM engines.
and there were only something like 2 generations
and what are you saying about the 2gr? that we had the guts to supercharge it and put it in a camry?

as far as adding a car to the game, i'd imagine a ute+panel van would probably be the first priority, as they're not really something you get from anywhere else.

also, on the topic of bolwell, remember the Ikara? bolwell still exists as a company, but they now specialise in making things out of high strength composites, especially carbon fibre. if I had the money, I'd go to them and ask them to make a #13 ikara, out of carbon fibre, and i'd put a honda drivetrain in it.

Fun fact: in 1970 the base model C10 was $2692 ($17908 in 2020 money), and the F-100 was $2675 ($17795).

    Now a Silverado 1500 costs $28300, and an F-150 is $28495.
