Nice drawing. I do like the idea of a few older cars, maybe a 1999 800 series?

You need to calm down. I literally said that I use it for shorthand, BlUeBUck, and said the other to poke fun at the suggested nomenclature. I'm not trying to be funny. I'm not trying to start anything.

This is like shushing someone, you're getting unecessarilly offended to the point of making it worse, as noted by the posts that followed yours and every other time anyone gets offended by it.

There's nothing here to get so offended about.

Half-OT: We really need an on topic general thread for this stuff

OT: It sounds like the Soliad is still in fairly early development if they are still looking for ways to make it unique, so best case scenario 6 months I'd say. I assume it'll be the next car so they can finally wrap up the 2012/2013 cars.

Cherry ViVi seems like it was close to completion when it was first revealed(not the video, the devblog) as we could already see that there was an interior(unlike the sunburst when it came out:p) So all I can say is that we should soon get interior pics(or so i hope) because this will be my new favourite car in beam and I'm sure many of you will enjoy this modern hatch. TBH they might actually add a few more engine choices when they release it because they might include engine swaps with the Cherry ViVi.(I hope they do)

I know this isn't exactly speculation, but engine swaps would be cool:cool:

    Current List of Engines:
    • Petrol 1.0 i3
    • Petrol 1.5 i4
    • Diesel 1.6 i4
    • Diesel 2.0 i4
    • Petrol 2.0 i4
    • Petrol 2.5 i5
    • Single/dual electric motor
    Ideas:

maybe we could have a engine similar to the mk8 golf with mild hybrid technology

1.3 T petrol with small electric motor

I have a feeling that career mode is close, or at least a somewhat high priority. The recent Utah remaster made mostly changes to buildings, which now have interiors, and the one that really caught my attention is the car service center. It has a bus stop, which would presumably be the way you would make it to work before you can afford a car, and the actual car shop itself is rather detailed, so some sort of job there would make sense. Another change was the addition of a construction site, likely so you can drive work trucks, cement mixers, etc. The map itself was pretty modern, so the remaster wasn't all that needed, so it seems (at least to me) that the changes were focused around career mode ideas.

As for the smaller maps being remastered, such as port, I feel they could be smaller and shorter career modes, pretty much what campaigns are currently. Likely with just one job, compared to the more open ended designs the larger maps will likely have.

I doubt it. We are at the point where aside from content and tire physics, a lot of the game is done. Hence systems needed for career mode are going in. The maps were being remastered and Utah, although not as bad as the others, was far below the bar set by Italy. Hence the Utah update. As for what's in it, of course they will design the updated Utah with things that will come in handy later, no point in updating it again this time next year if they could add that stuff in the remaster.

Career mode will come, but I doubt this year. As I said recently in a comment I can't actually find now, there's a fair amount of stuff we still need even for a beta/light career mode.

I feel like I should mention that the construction site was always there right from 0.5.4 - and it became a spawnpoint as soon as the process for that was developed. It merely was enlarged and given new assets in the rework.

The bus stop, in the meantime, is currently used by the Bus Routes mode.

That's not to say that they won't feature in dareer mode, but I'd say that it's a bit of a stretch to say that they've been updated solely with an eye to career mode.

Fair point. They were likely originally concepts for career mode, and just implemented for map design. They probably were redesigned once actual development for career mode ideas started. For example, the old construction site was more of just a visual element, and the new one is a building you can drive onto different floors of, and seems to have actual purpose in the world. The car service station is similar, it really wasn't much in the previous games, but now it has a detailed interior with car lifts, and the gas station has actual items on the inside. It kinda reminds me of GTA V, where you can see inside a building and it has a detailed interior, it probably can be entered. The buildings that are visual elements are just facades with no real interiors, with blocked off doors, and generally no windows.

I didn't know it was in 0.5.4, but I knew it was there before the Utah update that came out back in December of 2019.

Nissan Skyline, I'm glad you acknowledge that the construction site was there before the update =)
Just curious, do we need fire trucks, post office vans, garbage trucks, and vehicles like that for career mode?

When I say we are short on vehicle content, I usually mean customization, official configs, and cars (especially end game content). With the exception of police vehicles, I can't think of any service vehicles that we need, though I know many people want some.

A full on fire truck is a surprisingly highly requested vehicle, but there's not any major gameplay reason for them. IMO, in terms of gameplay, a firechief car is good enough. Another chief vehicle for variety sake would be appreciated. A prop fire truck and prop ambulance would be nice scenery to see trackside at the racetracks though. Just placed there during races and removed otherwise so the player never has to interact with them.

In terms of gameplay, nearly any delivery truck will have little variety outside of it's size. Mail trucks have an additional benefit of being great government surplus goodies though. Again, not necessary for career mode, but it would be a nice additional source of cheap parts and project platforms in career mode.

I really don't see any reason for a garbage truck from a gameplay perspective. The street cleaning Pigeon partially fills this roll anyway. It would be funny to try to escape the police in one, but funtionally very similar to the dump truck.

I would like to talk about police cars though, and not my usual complaints about the factory interiors they have. Let's take a short inventory:

    Piccobello: Carabineri
    Moonhawk: Private Detective
'53 Special: Generic state police car
    Bolide: Polizia
    800: Polizei
    K: Polizei Highway Patrol
Bluebuck: Firwood Patrol car; Firwood Interceptor
    D: Park Ranger
GM: Undercover patrol, generic patrol, Belasco patrol
    H: Beam.PD van
    Roamer: 2x Generic sheriff
Sunburst: Gendarmerie, police and police RS, not sure if those are Firwood or generic
    200BX: Firwood Police Special
    Hopper: Carabineri

There's a fair number of PD configs that could be added to that list (example: I-Series German police config). The reason I wanted to list them out like that is to show how many are Firwood, Belasco, and Generic PD. Not many are specific to those cities. Personally I'd like to see, when it would make sense, alternative skins for each named city in game. For example, the GM could get a single "Patrol car" config with whatever skin, and have the unused skins in the part selector as extras. When traffic is spawned in, tbe appropriate skin could be selected automatically. Belasco PD for WCUSA, Firwood PD for ECUSA, or generic for miscelaneous maps. There's plenty of interesting IRL PD livieries to base extra skins off of, or just be lazy and swap the names and ID numbers.

Some "tiers" of PD cars would be nice too. Admittedly bit of an unrealistic gameplay element since IRL it's more off of jurristiction than "threat" until you get up to swat team levels. In terms of gameplay it would be nice though. You could easily adjust police difficulty just by setting a minimum or maximum tier instead of messing around with aggression and speed limits, which are more likely to have weird results. It would also just be a fun additional gameplay element.

The Police Package and Police RS Sunbursts are Firwood units.

It's super late here, I'll come up with a much better response tomorrow.

I kind of feel like the maps themselves are the various PD "tiers". Like when you start out in Utah you'll have to deal with "D-series park rangers" and highway patrol cars. You got to West coast you most likely deal with just GM's. East coast USA sunburst patrol as well as sunburst highway patrol. And finally the police bolide in Italy being the final tier. It escalates in difficulty as you go to these locations.

I could see that. Still, more variety in patrol car performance within each map would be nice, and excluding normal patrol cars for hard difficulty or interceptors for easy difficulty would be a nice option.

I'd love to see something like a GT-Line trim with sporty exterior and interior, but with FWD and a 1.5 petrol, or a version similar to a Golf GTD with sporty looks, a powerful diesel and FWD
