This isn't really a question pertaining to anything specific but more so asking if there is anyone available who is experienced in map-making who can have a one on one conversation and actually give me some help on why my map isn't working?

I can't be mad at the devs as they are busy with the game and I can't get anything figured out when weeks go by in-between messages with the devs.

If you're a mapmaker or actually understand it, could you please PM me and I'll get back to you. I have my map Dystopian Offroad Death Pit I made and for some reason, I'm missing some files but have absolutely no clue what files are missing and would love the help.

I already have one map made OffRoad Gridmap which works just fine as far as I can tell but this one, oh man, this one is really giving me problems for some reason and it's really irritating.

    Thanks in advance.

There could be different problems for the most different type of mistakes.
Please describe what issue you are experiencing, as your post is really generic and does not explain the problem.

PS- Avoid PMing us for modding questions. It's preferred to use the forum, as your question and the answers could be useful to others. Also because we could be missing your PM, as we receive lot of them regularly.

Sorry, but I already did explain my problems. I have explained it in the most simplistic way possible.

I am missing files and I do not know what files I am missing.

If there's an easier way to say that then please, share with me what that would be because that is the best I can do.

All I need is someone to look over my files and show me directly what files I'm missing. I thought that would've happened when I uploaded it to be published, but I guess all you guys do is check for viruses, if that, and publish it.

I hope you get help. I've given up on all my future map making plans entirely because of this. The quote thing didn't work for some reason.

yea you and me both. I have bad depression so the idea of sitting down and making a map and finishing it is one of fantasy but when I do get around to actually doing the work and putting the time in, this is my result. It's broken and all of a sudden nobody knows what files are necessary for a map to work. I get told a bunch of crap, told to use the forums yet the forums obviously don't work as most who read it just ignore it as if the idea of helping is going to kill them. I'm just so frustrated. I just recently hit 2k hours in the game and felt like my map working would make it all worth it but I'm starting to see I've wasted a good 2 months of my time for no reason.

You would just think with all the maps being made someone has an understanding of what files are necessary to make a map work correctly. Guess I was heavily mistaken on that one.

I think I understand part of your frustration, getting something to work for the first time is both a tipping point and we want it to be easy. Unfortunately modding isn't easy, there's challenges to overcome at every turn. Most people don't browse the forums solely with the idea of helping people, so it'll take a while before you get help I imagine. Yeah that's all I can say about it, it's 4am here pretty tired tbh Id just take a break, do something actually fun and come back to it when you feel like a challenge. it's trial and error

also, might be a bad silly idea but try posting in your mod's discussion thread, if people know about it, maybe some can help

It won't let me pull a quote for some reason but that's the funny part with my issue. This isn't a first for me. I already have Off-Road Gridmap available without any issues that I can tell. Nobody out of the thousands of downloads I've recently gotten has come back to say there's a problem so that one works just fine.

It's my new map Dystopian Off-Road Death pit that is having issues. I did everything the same, well I thought I did until it got approved and then the reviews started coming in saying there's no terrain and I was baffled as it worked out fine for me on my end with a clean install of the game. I tried uploading the version I had thinking it may be different but it wasn't and the same problems existed. So, it's on my end I eventually was able to get figured out by asking a dev who got around to it to check to see if they had terrain (which I initially was under the impression they go over the mods to see if they actually work before publishing them, boy was I wrong) and he didn't so that told me it was on my end. I have tried comparing two different map mods to my files and everything in the mods I compared to were the same. I had the same file types as every other map so I got to a point where I needed helping thinking, oh it's the BeamNG community, they're talked about as being soooooo helpful so I decided to try it and ended up here just waiting.

Hopefully, in the near future someone with the smarts will come along and help out but if not, whatever. Not like it was a perfect map, not like my depression will just sit on the sidelines and give me the time to work on it to better it, so it really doesn't bother me too much, not like disappointment is a new concept to me haha I just try to find the positive in everything, so that helps. But thanks for the tip, I'll just link my post here to there cause apparently I'm unable to explain this enough for even a developer to understand :)

I got that part, but it's too generic to be able to give you any kind of solution.
You have several type of files in a level (meshes, materials, json, etc.), which they will all cause different results.
Saying you are missing files does not provide me any information to be able to help you.

That is why I need you to be more descriptive with your issue:
Describe exactly what happens when you open your level.
Append your game logs as well (beamng.log in your userFolder)

Like I just said in my last post I am missing the terrain. Trees are there.

Possibly the .TER file is not being loaded.
Check your console / logs: if that's the case, it should be showing an error about it.

A common mistake is forgetting to include the .TER file inside your level folder, as the World Editor by defaults saves it outside of it.
If you move the .TER file, do not forget to also edit the items.levels.json file where it's specified with the correct path:

It's likely due to the fact that when you create a new map the reference to the .ter file (normally terrain.ter) ends up in the levels root folder and not the actual level folder. If you select the terrain in the editor and chang the path from /levels/terrain.ter to /levels/<level name>/terrain.ter that should fix the problem (assuming I am understanding the problem correctly)

You can edit the .json as stated above but if you screw up the formatting of the file it'll bork things so its safer to do in editor for the first few times until you know exactly how the json is structured :)
