Hello, This is my first mod for Beamng, so I might need some help along the way. As there is no European van mod (that I know of) I have decided to take matters into my own hands and make one. I am planning to modify a H-Series Vanster Jbeam, rather than make my own (its too hard to make my own lol) and hopefully this will not get cancelled! I have already started on the model in blender and it is going quite well so far... So yeah... looking quite good as of now. ~Planned Models Standard panel van (above) Window van Single cab pickup Long wheelbase ~Planned Engines Petrol: 1.7L V4 2.0L V4 3.0L V6 Diesel: 1.8L I4 2.5L I4 Remember, this is heavily WIP and these are just ideas, it might be different in the future. Help/criticism appreciated!
similar to above, i think it'd fit the gavril h-series name as a previous generation of it however, the introduction of a new (unofficial) brand would be interesting
Gavril. Is. Not. Ford. It's also his mod and he can call it whatever he wants. Real life American vans have always been body on frame up until the past 15 years. European vans (which have only just recently come to the US) as far as I know have been unibody since the 50s. Point is, this van probably wouldn't make sense as an H-Series predecessor.
The model looks really good so far! as far as using the H-series Jbeam, that should be a pretty good base, as it's probably about the right size, just remember to modify the rigidity somewhere down the line. as far as the name goes, why not make up a new brand, and name it after some british town, like "cheltenham" or "shrewsbury" (kind of like bedford IRL) also, adding, for example a 200ci-ish straight 6, and maybe even a V8 would also be good if you wanted to make an australian or american export version (and would give some options for silly fast versions)
--- Post updated --- I like the ideas but for now I’ll only do stock variants, and maybe a Super Sport (if you don’t know what that is then search it up) if you want a fast version. --- Post updated --- Gavril is an American brand but the Transit is completely British , so I don’t think calling it a Gavril would fit. Also there is already a mod for a classic vanster , although it might be outdated.
Added some bumpers, some bonnet (hood) vents, a window trim and changed the lights a bit. I'm going to start working on things for the interior now. Update: Finished the seats now and put them in the transit I might change the seats in the future as they're not perfect but I'll leave it for today.
Sorry for no recent progress, but me and Frav have something to show you on the development screens https://www.beamng.com/threads/deve...contributing-post.1575/page-1149#post-1109787
Update: Made some wheels as I can't start on the interior until the pole is finished These wheels almost definitely wont be on the finished model, I just made them to see what they would look like on the model for ideas for the future.
I'm trying to work on the interior now, but Blender seems to have broken, whenever I try to extrude or move anything it doesn't work and nothing happens. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks Edit: Nevermind, It turs out that I accidently clicked a button or something and all I need to do is hold control (CTRL) and then move it to where I want. Anyway as Right hand drive won (only by 1 vote though) I have started making the interior. I'm not sure if the steering wheel looks good or not, I just made it quickly to see how it looked. Tell me if you think that the steering wheel is good or not please. Thanks
I think you're doing a great job ! That steering wheel looks pretty good, just there's a little unevenness at the center (horn, logo?) but the texture is dark so to me anything could sit there. About Blender, I try to keep Blender as much as possible 'factory set'. This way if something sudden changed cause you pushed a button by accident it's easy to reset to factory settings and just move on. If you can't move on your workflow is disturbed and that.. s*cks
I think you might just be seeing the badge there but it isn’t perfect shaded smooth, so you never know there might be an ugly bit. I’ll look into it tomorrow, as I’m on mobile now. Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you like the steering wheel. Also, how do you reset Blender to the factory settings?
