It’s frowned upon. And the developers want what’s best for the mod. Now please wait and refrain from making skins on the wrong bodies. Thank you.
Nobody is stopping you from playing with it privately. But releasing it is an automatic dump. And we don’t ban people for making the wrong skins. That’s fake news CNN.
But what if I dont care that its on the wrong body, why cant I just enjoy creating textures? why cant i share it with people who also like the truck and dont care about the body? Im really proud of one of the skins I created and would love to share it with others who want it, but im not allowed to? It has no negative effects on the mod itself.
These all affect how much the community actually cares about the mod. And in this instance it seems like nobody gives a shit. People don’t care about what skin is on what body or if they can get a body for their private use(which is basically asking for legacy pack). Like come on people, learn some respect for this mod. We put hard work into this mod to be the best monster truck mod out there. We have users who would rather it be realistic than have trucks that are on bodies that never ran on those bodies. --- Post updated --- But you won’t get that since it’s basically a sneaky way of asking for legacy pack. And you wanted to help us.
We should be able to share our creations as long as we put something along the lines of [NOT REALISTIC] in the pack title so people who only want super-ultra-mega-uber-extreme-hyper realistic models could just not download it. By far, this mod is the most advanced and realistic monster truck. even better than the official monster jam games. I personally think that having skins and stuff that isn't realistic doesn't tarnish the integrity of the mod. But hey, I might just be a dumbass
no, the recent beam ng update affected the materials, wait for the next update, huh, what you mean "goldberg" skin, you can make any .png you want, just dont try uploading it to the repository,
Third party websites have them but I suggest you don't use those websites as they pose a high risk to your computer.
So I know I probably shouldn't ask, but as it sits, this mod is technically closed source (I know thats not the correct term, but whatever.) The devs are making the bodies and features, and nothing outside of the realm of CRD is currently publicly allowed. Would you guys ever allow the creation of bodies and skins for the chassis, once development of the mod is """complete"""? Such as a C10 body made by someone else. (yes, I know its not CRD, thats why Im asking in case someone else makes it, regardless of chassis.) Sorry if Im adding fuel to the fire here, but just curious. Its not that I dont enjoy the current aspects of the mod, it just that it would be interesting to see what the community can create off of it.
The thing is, CRD is a type of monster truck chassis. You also have other chassis like Willman, Cohen, PEI and a range of others too. Some bodies only fit on some chassis. For example: The shock tower clips through the body making the CRD the wrong chassis. Every body is different and technically could be made to fit, but there's a catch. The reason why we don't allow anybody to make bodies is because they are made a certain way to where it actually works rather well. And also nobody is willing to do the work. I have seen people determined to make bodies and then they never do it. The main problem would be that the only person who knows how to jbeam the bodies would by @FLyInG 2 YoUr SoUL. He is the only user that has done the jbeam for this mod. He's basically rebuilt this mod from the ground up. And seeing someone try to jbeam bodies would need to do it to his standards. He likes keeping it realistic because some of our users actually care about every little detail about this thing. I wouldn't say you are fueling the fire, it's more of a great question that should've been asked a long time ago. I just hope this gets the point across to not only you but to everyone else also. EDIT: I just noticed you said bodies and skins, we allow people to make their own skins as long as it’s not a truck on a different body. Custom skins are completely fine.
