What do you think of Google as a company?

Hello people, I'm curious as to what users on here think of Google as a company.

I use Google, but there are issues that I have with the company such as their recent reloading tabs issue, their nest hub and google fi ads (especially the ads with babies in them), and their privacy issues. That said, I can tolerate them when it comes to looking up stuff (for the most part). I just think they have some issues.

I would like to hear what other users on here think of this company. By the way, please be kind to each other and do not harass anyone. Also, try not to add anything too controversial for the sake of this thread not getting removed or locked.

 

I await patiently the day Google will just be irrelevant in the scene. Won't be before a few decades though.

Google is one of the most popular tech companies and I guess they are useful in a way. I use Google, but I do some have issues with them though. By the way, have you heard of Google getting fined $170 million by the FTC?

Honestly, I feel like Google is quite crappy when it comes to privacy related stuff and I got a feeling that Facebook is even worse.

 

By the way, I got 2 horrible ads on YouTube (who is owned by Google) when I was getting ready to listen to a Skillet song

By the way, I heard that Google tracks your viewing history based on what you look up even if you delete it. I may stop supporting Google in a few years, but we will just have to see about that.

 

Well, get ready for Facebook, because they feed off your data (and literally everything you do) like leeches. I don't really need to explain much on that front, if you already acknowledge FB's scuminess when it comes to data farming.

 

I know right, Facebook seem very shady when it comes to data related stuff. I also have problems with Google when it comes to privacy related stuff. They may not be as bad as Facebook is, but they still seem shady. Also, they seem at least slightly biased when it comes to stuff like copyright (which I have a thread sharing my thoughts about in off-topic) and politics.

By the way, what do you think of Google?

 

Google is ok in my books, not a big fan of their functionality and constraints but they aren't to the point where I get an aneurysm from it. Not much I can say despite the fact I have it as my default browser.

Meh. I'm still pissed about the new YouTube home page, I can't find anything I actually want to watch.

Same, the stuff I want to watch is at least sometimes there, but it looks like Trending had diarrhea all over my home page.

 

I don't care for the stuff in Trending at all. By the way, what are your thoughts on Google?

 

I dont really like Google that much, so I use DuckDuckGo instead..

 

Fuck Google. They are even worse than Apple IMO.

I have not used Apple, but I don't like the fact that Google target ads towards you.

 

Also, don't even get me started on the cheap knockoff mobile app games on the Google play app.

i enjoy the concept of community outreach, but i don't think they're doing it as well as it was before.

privacy is generally an issue to me, but at least it's not facebook

 

I totally agree with that statement.

 

Google in my opinion needs the Teddy Roosevelt treatment.
