Right, so I bought an old Dell Dimension E510 and did some pretty substantial upgrades, and now I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions for good Windows XP games. Obviously, I'm already aware of stuff like The Sims and GTA SA, but I was curious if anybody recommends anything else.
Command & Conquer Generals Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 Roller Coaster Tycoon 1, 2 and 3 Minecraft (with a dedicated video card, and optifine) Any game from the 90s and early 2000s will likely work.
You don't need other games, at least if you like to build railroads and stuff, with mods you can get pretty decent tilesets for that game too which improve looks a lot, it has internal mod manager thing too, you can download new content straight from game: https://www.openttd.org/ It is free game, based on TransportTycoonDeluxe by Chris Saywer, which was made in mid 90's, or somewhere there, yet there is not much others that have the same appeal. Oh when TTD was new I did play it often 24 hours without break, maybe that explains why I'm like this, so be warned, for some that game is dangerous
Almost anything by Chris Sawyer is bound to be a good game. That is the original developer of Roller Coaster Tycoon, and if you haven't ever played it, you should. Its a great classic. Oh, and I hate Atari for ruining RCT series. The original RCT can run well on hardware as weak as a Cyrix MII CPU @ 233 MHz. It was written almost entirely in x86 assembler, making it one of (if not the absolute) best optimized PC games of all time.
The original Halo, RCT 1, 2, and 3, Half-Life series, countless Need for Speed games, Battlefield 1942... I can go on.
Rome: Total War, Just Cause, Far Cry, Crysis (if you PC can handle it), GTA III, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, Doom 3, CoD, CoD 2, Worms Series, F.E.A.R, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Midtown Madness 2, NR 2003 (good luck getting a hold of it legitimately), HotWheels: Velocity X (a childhood favorite of mine), C&C: Red Alert 1 2 and 3, Unreal Tournament 2004, Battlefield 2, CS: 1.6, Quake 4... There are literally about 10 to 12 years of games out there. You can extend to Fallout 3 and GTA IV if you really want to, despite them being more of Vista/7 era games.
slrr. Street legal racing redline. archive.vstanced have links for the 2.21 version. For free i think. \Idk if its safe --- Post updated --- Oh. World Racing 2. I think that runs it.
Hi all, new here. Found the Devs Tech version to work on Windows XP SP3. Seems to work okay though my video card is bad, am looking for a new one. I currently run an old Nvidea GeForce 9800 GT Most times it just locks up randomly, sometimes I get an all black screen or a powder blue screen no text. Other times I get a snowy mess of colors and then locks up. After a restart it seems to work fine for a while. I have swapped out the ram in the past so I suspect this ten year old card to be the culprit. But the Tech version does run on XP SP3.
Possibly Car Chase Simulator as it's free and can run on a microwave, idk if XP will run Unity though.
