    Personally I wonder what ever happened to some of the ideas TDev mentioned they aimed for with the Italy release. Something about an airport tug...

    I would love a tug, as useless as it would be due to the game lacking official planes, it would be incredible.

    I somewhat suspect that 0.18 may release later than November, possibly December.

    0.18 is very likely to be an extremely large update, likely bringing traffic/police improvements, more vehicle upgrades, more map upgrades (Doull hinted at Utah being a decent way through remastering, we still haven't seen upgraded Small Island, Port, or Industrial Site since late 2017, and JRI and the ETK map also both critically need upgrades as well), and, if the 0.15 changelog is anything to go by, at least a WIP version of Career mode. (and an INCREDIBLY minor chance of the Wendover appearing)

    We have gotten the first mini-update since 2016 in the form of 0.17.1.0, so I would not be surprised if we get one or two more mini-updates to hold us over until then.

    speaking of mini updates, if there is a next one, I think the roamer would be upgraded, since it was mentioned in the devblog, and already has its new model in the files

    Likely the Roamer, D-Series, and H-Series, as they share parts and frames.

    LJFHutch hasn't posted anything since April. I would not be surprised if he is working on a new map, but he's keeping it under wraps because the Italy hype was ridiculous.

    I just thought that I should point out that the Bluebuck's engine textures are not specific to it and are a new texture called "v8_classic" in common. This texture also shows that there are multiple brand names on the engines, hinting at the Barstow, Special, and Moonhawk all switching over to the Bluebuck's engine model soon.

    In my opinion this is a bit sad, since it takes out the canon that Bruckell is a competitor and the fact that the Bluebuck's engine is a bit lower quality than the Barstow/Special's model.

    I guess quality wasn't the right word, but it definitely is lower res. Whereas the old V8 models were more focused on having the parts physically modeled, the Bluebuck mainly focuses on higher quality textures. If you look at the intake manifold, the Burnside/Barstow engine actually has runners from the intake plenum, whereas on the Bluebuck they are just textured on. This is also the case in the alternator, where the blades are actually modeled in the Burnside/Barstow opposed to being textured on in the Bluebuck. There are a few other examples of this, but I digress.

    Alright, now that we're on the same page I can explain this;
    The Bluebuck's engine was done more traditionally; Model everything high-poly, then bake everything down to something as low poly as possible without sacrificing any of the present components.

    The Barstow/Special and Moonhawk engines were modeled low poly and at final polycount, with the details painted on later in an image editor. This approach tends to bring out model detail, but leaves a ton of visual detail out. Not to mention it can also make for excessive UV islands.

    Read the thread @B25Mitch made on the Gavril V8 models;
    https://www.beamng.com/threads/gavril-v8-engine.58579/

    The Bluebuck V8's low poly model could have been a bit better, but it's adequate and most people won't even notice just how low poly it is.

    I guess now we have something to speculate over... Is Bruckell now part of Gavril?

    Likely not.

    I always assumed Gavril and Burnside were one company (With some relation to Wentward), and Bruckell and Soliad were a competitor. The developers are probably trying to save time, thus they might use the same engine model in the future, just with different badging.

    I doubt they will use the same model for totally different manufacturers. They tend to be very thorough and like to focus on the small details. I haven't ever seen them take shortcuts to save time on anything.

    Yeah, I've always imagined Bruckell as a Buick/Oldsmobile type of brand, while Gavril is more of a Ford type of brand. It would also make sense for the Burnside to be part of Gavril. It does seem strange that 3 names share one engine, though. Burnside and Gavril? Sure. Gavril and Bruckell doesn't make any sense to me- it's like Ford and Chevy collaborating on a car.

    Well, thats probably just developer oversight. If I recall correctly they rushed the interior of the Sunburst because people were over-hyping it when it was in the experimental branch.

    The Sunburst is the worst interior-wise for sure.
