Hello fellow BeamNG fans ! Eversince I got to know BeamNG and the existence of the DSC Forklift I knew that sooner or later I had to go and try to crank it up again, unless someone else would, or unless another (and better) forklift would pop up on the forums. Actually I wonder why this never happened. So many talented people create so many amazing mods, yet that good old DSC Forklift by DrowsySam sank slowly into oblivience. I really don't have too much time tospend on modding and even playing BeamNG but.. well yeah.. some priorities have to be taken care off. After roaming thru the files (while my 'modest modding' got started) I quickly realised that this is another amazing mod created by a talented modder. Of course it had to be fixed cause it went outdated. So in a nutshell, here's what I did : - Replaced the broken LUA file that prevented the vehicle from spawning - Implemented adapted key bindings and controls - Added a diesel sound from an old sound pack on the repo - Reduced rpm's for diesel similarity and also raised the torque values (same engine though) - Added extra gears forwards and backwards R2-R1-N-F1-F2 - Applied a bit more brake force cause it wasn't really braking forcefully (more precision while manoeuvring) - Added air brake sound on the heavier variant - I stated in another post that I wouldn't fix the steering wheel's position but I couldn't resist and I did - Made some adjustments so the forks lift higher and pull more weight as well (tested about 6.500 kgs) This has three drawbacks. The first being it's no more possible to drive in and out of trailers cause the mast became higher. The second being there is a little invisible peace to be found between the top of the mast and the bottom of the forks when the lift goes towards maximum. The third being the fact that the heavier vehicle crushes the loading decks of trailers and other possible surfaces. (picture example below) - So, I created a second .zip file that preserves the original configuration. The result is one forklift with low mast and low weight, the other with high mast and high weight. Both vehicles can be spawned in whatever their fork configs. (picture example below) - And last but no least, I was granted by the author to reupload his mod I'm sorry that the thumb files are between the cars, and not the trucks and trailers, but I couldn't get decent descriptions done without loss of the thumbs and other issues. Can't spend more time on the matter so if it's disturbing just disable the mod when not in use. Instructions : The file I uploaded needs to be unpacked (extracted). This results in two different .zip files. Proceed as usual (install .zip files in the Documents/BeamNG.drive/mods folder). edit : Oh, don't forget to push "T" for the thrusters Hope you like, NC
Awesome! Just yesterday I was hoping you'd get permission to upload it. We need more machinery and cranes in this game tbh. Great work, Thank you!
uploaded pics again (aaand wiped the rest of this message :/ ) My previous message got erased - It just was saying : Thanks very much everyone, glad to share it and that you guys like it and hopefully someone can make some empty and loaded pallets and other stuff to scoop up and throw around.
Im aware it "T" but it will not work also, you have to be stupid if you think a forklift is a Land speed car "period"! Just wanted to know if i am doing something wrong and if someone else is having the same issue.
You might have "T" conflicting with another key control that uses it too, did you check that ? Yes it only goes 40 km an hour here, cause indeed it is a forklift. That's why the original author build the thrusters into it. I tested it up to more then 300 km/h on the Rennstrecke (that's Autobahn) and it had plenty left. The heavier variant is way slower but tips way less easy over and still is BLAZING FAST heheh.. Anyway if your key bindings are not the problem maybe disable possible suspicious mods if you might have them ? I tested the DSC firmly thru both version 0.15.3 and 0.17.0 .
I looked through the specific vehicle controls i only have raise tip lean back and lower, and then controls to other vehicles?
It's over here : edit : also @Aerohead1999 did you notice the vehicle has TWO gears ? That might explain your benchmark
Thank you, i did not know those buttons where actually the letter that is great, well i can now enjoy violent fun with the forks. THANK YOU
This one before steering wheel was fixed, hence underneath the vehicle Record some manoeuvres and replay speed x2 makes for some pleasing effects
Wow this is really cool, thanks for bringing it back. IMO this is part of what made RoR so fun...even when the cars were just submesh'd and didn't deform worth a crap, you could always have fun with a forklift or other piece of machinery. TOO HEAVY! Box frame, solid front axle + heavy duty rear end with duals, and some "super heavy duty rear springs" and she works fine! Even gets around with stock 3.55:1 gearing and a 4.5L V8.
