Hi everyone, I am not dead.
I had a huge inspiration hit today and binge modelled this thing. Even if it might not look like it, it is actually based on the Miramar, and proportions pretty much fit (it has slightly longer front overhang but thats it).

Now, I would very much like to port it to Beam but my jbeam knowledge is very limited.
Yes, I can just export the dae and slightly edit the node locations so that they match the new shape. However that wouldn't make a good beamng vehicle. Textures and glowmaps I know how to do. I am aware and have read most of the wiki pages on creation, however I still don't understand some things, specially the more technical bits, for example I don't really know how to go about creating parts that are not based on existing ones.

Therefore I want to ask, would anyone be willing to support me and help me bring this to BeamNG? I understand that this is probably not to everyone's liking as the design is quite weird and extreme, and that there is nothing to gain other than seeing it run, but without any help I'm not too motivated to even attempt the port. In case of actually going ahead with this, I had some engine swaps in mind. I thought about rear suspension remake but that would definitely be too complicated, however I would very much like to swap an ETK I6 and an electric engine just thrown in the hood coupled to a manual tansmission just as if it was an ICE.

In the attachments you can see the current state of the model. It's not yet completed but it's almost there (need to separate it in panels and do the insides and probably a better suiting interior, but modelling is not at all a problem for me as you can probably imagine). Also critique on the design itself is accepted as long as its constructive criticism and doesn't involve making the whole thing from scratch.

Hope you find this interesting and thanks in advance!

Status as of 9th September 2020:

    - Exterior has been completely remade and has been ported to Beam
    - Lights are done and also in Beamng, working
    - Interior in process of remake. It was done before but it needed changes since the bodyshape is changed from the first version.

    Stuff to-do:
    - Interior: door panels, roof carpeting, pillar trims. Revising materials
    - Exterior: glass/windows. Revise/remake ingame textures (some artifacts are present)
    - Lights: add damaged textures.
    - Jbeam: pretty much everything is yet to be done, but I'd rather tackle all at once.

Rear end is two narrow, and the rear lights should be taller and separated. Thin out the one rear pillar and move it backwards.
Other than that, I really like it! :)

Thanks for the comments guys! :)
Implemented some suggestions that were mentioned here and by some friends, now it looks like this:

I'll be working on the parts that aren't so visible, the insides of the body, cutting it in panels and some more details.

Seeing as it is a concept I feel you can get away with not making separate panels.

For the interior you could do something like the new Peugeots have. In any case, I'm very excited for this. And this is the first time in at least a year I've written this about something here.

I would advise with the suspension, you should use something more modern, perhaps out of the etk 800/k?

This is really neat! Reminds me of Japanese revival cars, the new Toyota Century, Nissan Figaro etc. Only the Japanese automotive industry can pull off the "retro" look and make it look good. Looking forward to an eventual release! Good luck.

Looks like something SketchMonkey would draw if asked to redesign the Miramar. And I mean it in a good way :)

Good job on the redesign overall, but the question is how highpoly is the model? BeamNG does not like models with high amount of polygons (actually every game with soft body physics doesnt like that), so keep that in mind while modeling all the curvy shapes

I guess I could, but that would be no fun in Beam!

@Arne Hurnik Glad to hear that! The modern pug interiors are cool, but I don't think they suit this concept. I have something more plain and clean in mind. I want to keep it simple.

@CaptainZoll I feel like that is out of my reach regarding jbeaming. Maybe if I get some help. I actually like the handling of a live axle, but I would agree that it would be good to get rid of the leaf springs and do something a bit more modern with control arms and maybe a watts linkage. But I have no idea how to jbeam that. I would really like to improve the handling of the miramar because as it is currently I don't like it at all... Independent suspension could also be an option but that would be a complete rebuild, plus live axle is pretty good for drifting XD (AE86, Crown Vic)

@King of Unnecessary Saves Glad you like it! I completely agree, I am a huge fan of the new Honda EVs and concepts like the Nissan IDx

@Shtoorminator Appreciated! I do follow him, another great inspiration was Khyzyl Saleem. Regarding poly's, I am aware of ingame model poly counts.

Here is some little progress on details and low poly test (even slightly less polys than the original miramar - 27k for the exterior, whereas the original exterior has 33k)

    Looks good!
I would suggest to make your own jbeam and not base it on the old miramar.
I could help with jbeaming parts of it, but not all.
Also, what are you planning for the powertrain? An EV would be period/trend correct but a turbo i4/i3 would be as wel... (with a V8/i6 swap as a custom part).

My plan was to make a separate unibody option, adjusting the original unibody jbeam to the new shape (which is actually not too different), the point being to be able to use parts from the original. Making a whole new jbeam sounds good but I don't see myself capable of doing it. I know how to define nodes, but I know next to nothing about beam settings and groups or collision groups...however many of the new parts need their own jbeam

As for power trains, as I said I wanted to swap in an I6 (I'm thinking etk800) and an electric motor for sure. I would make a custom model (in fact I already have one) and just plug it in straight into the flywheel and tranny xD). But now that you mention it an i3 turbo (new Fiesta ST engine) would be pretty cool. Altho I would have to make the sound of it because I can't stand unrealistic/mismatching sounds.

Anyways I will probably ask you for help then! For now I'll finish up the model, not much left already :D

Wowee, reminds me plenty of those early-to-mid 2010s concept cars they offered, specifically the IDx! I love how it's looking so far, keep it up.

I could give you some help making new slots for parts and other beaming, but I will not be able to do it all lol

I do have to ask since I am an engine guy, what engines will be included in the car? Will it still be the I4 that comes with the regular Miramar or will it have different options? I would suggest a hybrid TT V6 and an electric engine, Maybe hybrid I4. Just suggesting! Good luck man, and keep up the great work!
EDIT: I just saw what you said for the powertrain above, sorry!
