I'd bet it's an awesome mountain pass car, but then you know me. I'm just that one car enthusiast who can't leave the era of car culture behind.

Well, it's a lotus. So unless they did some really bad stuff to it, its gonna be good on engaging roads.
But I doubt removing so much of the front bonnet will have been positive to the handling.

I think that it is a factory spec car. I recall that they made an open-wheeled car in the early 2000s, but only a handful were made.

Not going to lie, the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500's interior looks pretty badass IMO.

So just wondering how are laws in your country tuning wise? For me in germany its basically when they stop you theyll take your car away regardless if its legal or not if everythings fine you just have to pay the towing company if not you are completly screwed its points on your license and a hefty fine. Also nearly everything tuningwise is either expensive illegal or both. For example my car is allowed to have 70db if its over that youll get points even if its stock sometimes.

We have to have it declared on insurance and it has to pass an MOT, noise limit is much higher too.
Super drastic mods (engine swap etc) are allowed, but must be inspected and the vehicles registration document will be reissued to reflect it. Can involve a decat at that point too if emissions are within legal limits (probably won't be), though theres plenty of options for high flow aftermarket catalysts.

Pretty much as long as you aren't building a literal deathtrap it's pretty much fine.

No decats or other emissions tampering, written in a way that may or may not make engine swapping and upgrading from single to dual exhaust both functionally felonious. Actual enforcement, as well as the precise details of most rules, are usually (there have been emissions prosecutions by the EPA, but it doesn't often happen to individuals) up to state or even local authorities, and most of them flatly don't care outside of the urban leftist strongholds. For example Connecticut or somewhere in that area doesn't allow coilovers and California is notoriously fascist about emissions due to its overcrowded, polluted cities, but here in Alaska there are literally no inspections, just a $170 fee every two years to renew registration (or $210 for a permanent non-transferable registration). I could probably convert my Escort to a full tube-chassis RWD race car with an old carbed NASCAR engine and drive it around like that forever as long as some bored federal prosecutor didn't find out.

And that you are above about 25 considering that insurance companies run away crying to their mummies and daddies when they find out an 18yr old has put a cold air intake on their 1.2L corsa.. :p

But in all seriousness in the UK we have to declare all mods even if it doesn't affect the driving of the vehicle..

Which is a pain given me, a 17yr old, I'd like to say modify the audio systems a bit do a bit of electrical systrn stuff but don't think my insurance would be happy at all (and likely would not pay out for a claim if they found out my car was modified and I didn't tell them).. (mayyybe it would be fine, but honestly I dont want to try since getting insurance for a bone stock car for a 17yr old in the UK is hard enough as it is)

    Read this: https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/blog/2...tions-affect-your-modified-car-insurance.html

Obviously, Adrian Flux specialises in car enthusiast car insurance, such as modified/classic vehicles. Different insurers will take different approaches to things.

I plugged a FAT32 formatted flash drive into my car (a 2014 Honda Civic EX) this morning to see how it does with them, and it immediately started playing the mp3 music. I turned the car off to go get a coffee, and when I turned it back on the car resumed playing from where it left off. I wonder if USB hubs would work with the car. I have some experimenting to do.

Apparently on my parents Hyundai I40, if you plug a keyboard into the USB slot, and press the windows key, a start menu appears :p
I have also read that Hyundai it may have patched that out, but information on that type of thing is fairly scarce.

    wow :p
The honda connect system i know is basically a reskinned android tablet, the settings menus if you go deep enough is just the straight android ones.. Android 4.1.2

also nice post on insurance... I will hold off for a year or so, a 17yr old with a modified car is a bit of a recipe for disaster :p... Also i'm with marmalade.. and reading their ts&cs i think its more insurance for the average joe not like adrian flux.. maybe i will switch insurance providers see whcih one is cheapest next year :p

well if a cold air intake on a car makes insurance take a hike, a future me with a nearly new license trying to insure an over 40 year old car may be a steep price
