* Hears the warnings for the now category 4 hurricane over my CB radio * Crap I have got to return the van and get back home. * Arrives at work and drops off the van before running to the last operating bus in all of Firwood * * Pays the bus fee and take a window seat in the back * " Maybe I should've stayed in Garfield Height's… " * Gets off the bus and unlocks the front door of my house * * Walks to the pantry and finds that I have almost no food and a 24 pack of water * Shit! I also need to barricade my windows. * Goes into the basement to find left over wooden crates from moving * This will do...
I woke up to buckets of rain pelting my roof. I snap up in bed, and flick the light switch. Power’s out. I hear a car alarm across the street. A branch has snapped off a tree and slammed into the windshield of an ETK. Thank god my Sunburst is in the garage. I clutch a flashlight as I step into my musty basement. There it is! A Hirochi portable generator. It’s powered by four nine-volts, which are still installed. I carry the small generator upstairs, dust it off, and lay in on my kitchen floor. I notice the street is flooding. A Covet, helplessly flashing its high beams as it drifts downhill, floats by my kitchen window. I plug in my toaster, and toast up two Eggos. I call my boss and tell him I can’t get out my front door. I turn on a battery powered radio and switch to the news station. “HEAVY STORMS BATTER BELASCO AS HURRICANE DRAWS NEAR, 78000 WITHOUT POWER.”
*I wake up to darkness* Looks like the power is out. Those candles were a good purchase. I light one in my upstairs bedroom and step downstairs. I look outside and see pouring rain. I step outside quickly and into the garage, where I find my cars unharmed.
*parks everything inside the garage (was a tight fit, had to also put the unsold kashira in there)* I think I have enough food. (hurricane roleplays are fun)
* Few hours later * * While repairing a small leak in the attic, the power goes out. * Eh this is hopeless, I'll probably just leave Firwood for now * Goes outside with a rain coat on and runs to the Roamer * Please start up! * Gets in and cranks the key... Nothing happens, no electricity. * Dammit the battery's dead, Guess I'll have to use the Pessima * Loads up the Pessima and starts to drive away * ( Agreed lol )
Belasco is way too far away. The closest town you can go to is probably Garfield Heights, still an hour or two away though.
(Agree x3) I could try driving and getting more supplies, but I think i’m set up pretty well. I could board up some of the windows, as water is leaking in from everywhere. That means I would have to buy/steal some plywood, which also means I would have to go driving.
As I stare anxiously at my TV, the power winks out. In the darkness, I fumble around with the crappy weather radio I bought at SprawlMart right before the storm. I peer out my window. "It's not raining right now, maybe I should strap a tarp over the Pessima." I run into my garage, grab a tarp, and bungee cord the thing around the car to the best of my ability. As I walk in, I hear a crash, followed by the noise of broken glass hitting the ground. My bay window has just been smashed in by a hunk of wood. "Okay.... cardboard, cardboard..." I mumble as I pull out the smashed boxes I ran over with the Road Cruiser. I tear one apart and duct tape it to the inside of the broken window. Things are looking rough here in Belasco.
4AM. Jesus christ that was one shitty night. I swear i can feel this house moving each time the wind blows. *I open the curtains and see that it is still pitch dark outside, still raining* Well shit. I guess we are not going anywhere today either. *I sit back down in the coach and turn on the TV* News Reporter: FEMA has declared an emergency evacuation of the Firwood county as the NHC declared Hurricane Valeria a Category 5 Hurricane, with winds well over 160mph. Everyone in the Firwood county is recommended to evacuate. This is a big one. Probably the largest one Maine has ever seen... My god. Me: HURRICANE WHAT?! DID I ACTUALLY DRIVE INTO A FUCKING HURRICANE?! *Ann gets up and opens the door of the bedroom* Ann: Dad are you ok? Whats with all this talk about hurri..... What the hell?! ARE WE ACTUALLY SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE?! Me: YES. GET YOUR BROTHER. WE ARE LEAVING RIGHT NOW. *Runs out of the house, straight into the car* Wait a second... isnt that the ocean?! Fucking hell.
Unfortunate the project of rebuilding the Firwood Mirimar has to be canceled due to the hurrican in Maine. Which is somewhat bad to me cuz I'm trying rebuild its history
“Well, this sucks, luckily i tied down my cars, but stll...” *looks outside* “Yep, im glad im inside”
*Current the water level is the size of the length of the sidewalk Hmm... Maybe people can hear me over the siren *Turns on siren *The sound of the rain and siren overlap each other
I pull out my phone. Only half charged, dammit. I look at the footage from my driveway security camera that has a battery backup. Well, so much for the tarp. I'm also pretty sure that the entire left half of the car shouldn't be in the air.
“Well, luckily my house is on a hill, so it wont fludd, the engines of the cars are off, so im safe, for now” *grabs some english tea*
Ah jeez, its started to flood. The wind is getting worse. I have no way to know whats happening but what I’m seeing outside. I don’t think I can get out with all this flooding.
Alllllllllllllllrighty then! I guess it's time for me to cardboard up the rest of the windows and start getting bottled watter and batteries. I decide to barricade myself in the windowless bathroom on my lower level, it's probably the safest place in my house I figure.
Jesus christ look how high the water is... We are not going to make it. There is only one place we can go and seek shelter. Ann: Please tell me you are not thinking of mom's hou... Me: Yes.
