Ended up getting the spacers in, even with a 5/16th spacer it almost doesn't clear But its looks amazing and absolutely no rubbing. Even at full crank. 20x12.5 x 33" tire
It's been a long time since I've posted here. I sold my Infiniti last December because getting 17mpg on premium while commuting to work and school was killing me. The money I made from that sale went into two cars though. 2011 Focus SES 5-Speed - One elderly owner. Drove it across the state everyday for his commute. Highest mile car I've bought at 128k miles. Only modification I did on this car so far is a strut bar and the yellow fog lights. 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX - Lowest mile car I've ever bought. 88k on it when I bought it. I just had a full 2.5" dual exhaust system put on the Bird last week. It did make a notable difference in the power.

Bought it. SInce my Astra had enough wrong with it to cover the cost of a new car I decided to get something else. Namely a *slightly* blue 1991 Corolla GL 1.3 Got it reasonably cheap and problems are mainly limited to body work. It has MOT history dating back to its first in 1994 and only 86k miles from new, should have plenty of life left in it. Plus it has blue velour so ofc I'd buy it.
Figured make my first forum post of my race car! I'm on here a lot, never post though. It's a 1000cc lightning sprint/Mini sprint. Car is a 1999 Stealth Midget chassis with a 2011 Yamaha R1 Crossplane engine. We built it over the winter and had to modify and custom make a lot of things for it, since I flipped and destroyed my other car last year. We run stock injection with power commander and bigger injectors to run pure methanol for fuel. Methanol allows then engine to run cooler, Yamaha R1's tend to run hot. Also Methanol burns cooler so if you'd catch fire you have less likely chance of burning and fires can be put out with normal water. Bad thing about methanol is it's a little more expensive depending on where you get it from. It deteriorates fuel lines, injectors and the fuel regulator. You also have to do more maintenance and you use more. We go through 8-10 gallons a night, where pump gas we went through 2-3 gallons a night. Washed it, purged the fuel system(Emptied pump gas, put methanol back into it.) Changed oil, filters, plugs and changed tires. Getting it ready for today's race if the rain holds off! I probably won't post to much of it though. We do to many things that is "normal" maintenance to it to post here, like I said before, which also can include changing front axles, hubs, shocks, springs, bars, sprockets etc.....
I refueled with a top tier gasoline, and probably will change the air cabin filter later. The car is a 2014 Honda Civic EX with R18Z1 engine.
I got hit. Hoping the damage is skin deep, but with an airbag warning light on, some fluid dripping and headlight aim being way off, who knows. --- Post updated --- Should he rectifiable anyway
That's a bummer. The headlight aim could just be the aiming mechanism skipped some teeth, and airbag stuff can be pretty sensitive, but the fluid leak is no bueno. Maybe an excuse to get less foggy headlights though, if the one is actually damaged.
Aim is off horizontally, there isn't any horizontal alignment in this car, so hopefully it's just the light itself or mechanism that's damaged and not the supporting panel. My fear is that I've done some napkin maths on repair costs in UK, legitimately, insurance may just write it off
Doesnt actually look that bad actually hopefully it doesnt get written off. My sister had a similar bump recently but her car looked far worse car is worth only 10k and now she has a damage of 8k on it. The odd thing to me actually is that both werent going that fast maybe like 10kph
Thats what ya get when you have a private duopoly in a mandatory industry. There really should be a Royal Car Insurance service that's state owned and undercuts the private market.
Yeah so insurer has warned me it may not be within realm of economic repair, not because it's horrific damage, but if you start counting up broken components, even though each isn't that bad, it adds up fast. Plus labour. Of course if it's a write off I get a payout similar to the market value of the car. But still, it's booked to be collected on a truck (not that it really needs it) and be looked at. If it's repairable it will be repaired, if not, money. Other driver has admitted full liability, plus I got it on dash camera anyway, conveniently they even use the same insurer as me which means the company has to do minimal legwork. I get a hire car tomorrow or Friday. No excess/fees to pay. Basically as walk in the park as insurance can be.
Given the UK government's opinion towards anything that might vaguely be considered fun, that might actually be one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. Mandatory trackers that enforce distance limits or call the police if you speed? Agenda-driven premiums that punish people for choosing politically incorrect (too old, too sporty, not "green" enough) makes and models? Not available at all for tuned or politically-incorrect cars? At this point I wouldn't put anything past your government, and I wouldn't consider anyone else's (including America's) to be much better.
The uk is chilled imo germany is way worse if the police has a issue with your car they can take it away if they feel like it to "check" if its legit you still have to pay a fine. If they stop you theyll treat you like you ra*** a small child. But at the same time they dont care if the car falls apart on the road. Also insurance is the same as in the uk the only thing we currently have is the autobahn but as it seems not for long anymore because those damn "ecos" dont want a road without a speed limit
Trackers in UK are both non mandatory and rare... Nor do any phone the police unless you're literally doing instant driving ban speeds, like 70 in a 30, even someone like shotgun chuck must understand that doing is is bloody stupid and indefensible. But hey ho. Having the tracker was actually more expensive on my insurance than not having it
But don't the insurance places let you put a tattle box in your car that gives you discounts for driving like an octogenarian? I wasn't saying that trackers would become mandatory for everyone, however a hypothetical government-run insurance company could require drivers to have one of those boxes at the very least, or possibly an outright tracker, in order to use their insurance.
Yeah, you only really see tracker thingies in new drivers cars, since that's where the biggest jump in price usually is, and it can sometimes cut it down quite a bit Cheap cars too, are a pain if you get into insurance stuff. My dad's car had someone run into the side of it, which literally just damaged the door slightly, but they were really keen on just writing it off
My car probably would have been wrote off long before I got it if insurance had been involved in half of what it's been through from other people. Apparently the first owner's son drove it off a cliff at some point, which might explain why the rocker panels are in such horrible shape that I really can't find a safe place to jack it up by anymore. 6677's car looks like it's barely damaged.
Actually it penalises you for driving like an octogenarian as driving too slow is considered both dangerous and environmentally harmful. It rewards you for driving close to the limit but not exceeding the limit, also measures cornering g's, where again, it's going to penalise you for slowing to 10mph for a long sweeping bend, though it'll probably penalise a tight corner tire squeal inducing line. Acceleration is something you can fail a driving test for doing too slowly, again, you will be penalised for it, but penalised for turning every traffic light into a drag strip. Basically the UK has a law known as failure to make due haste, the boxes are aware of this and will increase your premium accordingly as you are an obstacle --- Post updated --- Damage wise. The air conditioning condenser is caved in, bumper is pretty superficial but some plastics are broken and needs replacing, the wing is bent out of shape - dunno if they'll just straighten it or seek to replace it, I'm not a panel beater - radiator is bent but hasn't leaked, headlamp is aiming off to the right. None of its major, but it's so many little things, the labour cost can be immense, I had a far less damaged car come to £1500 in repairs, and this car isn't worth a huge amount, 2-3k at most. --- Post updated --- If my car is written off, it'll be just barely. If it's not written off it'll be just barely. --- Post updated --- End of the day. Write off is just "costs more to fix than car is worth"
