In the 'Opening Menu/Help/Performance/Number of Mods' section, it reads: Optimal-- < 100 Zipped mods, < 10 unpacked mods Recommended-- < 200 Zipped mods, < 20 unpacked mods Do installed mods (even if they are deactivated) still count toward this total? Or only the ones that are activated? For example: I go to the repository, subscribe to, and install 800 mods. Of those 800, I deactivate 775 of them, leaving only 25 active and ready to go. Would my total number of zipped mods be 800 or 25? I don't know if it can see the total number of .zip files in my hard drive, and penalizes me based on all of them, or it knows to count only the activated ones. I'm sorry if this seems like a foolish question, but I guess before I go (hypothetically) subscribing to 800 mods, I don't want to find out the hard way that they all count against me, whether they're activated or not. Thanks.
I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure it would only be the active mods. If you have 800 and deactivate 775 of them you will notice a massive increase in performance. So yea, as far as I know only active mods have an effect
Only active ones IIRC. Deactivated ones are not loaded, aside from the bare minimum so that they appear in your mod-manager.
Oh good! That's the answer I was hoping for. And it makes sense that it should be that way. One should be able to download as many as they want and put them in the queue as "place-holders" -- just so they have them on file and don't have to write down on a separate piece of paper, where to download them all over again each and every time. Activation/Deactivation is certainly easy enough that, that's no problem at all. I don't mind having to act/deact, just so long as I can keep them all in the storage shed either way. Thanks for clearing this up and confirming it for me. --- Post updated --- The 800 mods was a fake hypothetical scenario, just to make my point via exaggeration. I believe right now I currently have 7, and 5 are active. But before I rapidly add more (and trust me, it will rapid now that I've learned my way around my new computer-- after taking it slow for the past month); I just wanted to confirm if I'm limitless in the queue-- just so long as I keep the active ones south of 100 or 200. And it sounds like everyone has confirmed that. Thank you again.
