I guess with Wreckfest still not having a devblog I should bring this to everyone's attention here The longest devblog post for a minimap I've ever seen. https://steamcommunity.com/games/228380/announcements/detail/1801908840875557946 TLDR: This will be in the next update My favorite line of the post: "complete with cute little dots showing your car"
Reminds me of the one used in the first Flatout, they used orange dots on a white track and black dots for wrecks. --- Post updated --- I also fixed my issue with ping so I can actually play online now
First of the next wave of vehicles announced! https://steamcommunity.com/games/228380/announcements/detail/1813169105645439770
Weirdly enough, after installing the winter mod, the regular harvester is now unlocked for me. Worryingly, I haven't even been able to unlock the event that I believe is supposed to unlock the harvester yet - hopefully this doesn't turn into a game-breaking bug down the line.
https://steamcommunity.com/games/228380/announcements/detail/1778267476118562786 AI will use appropriate upgrades and paint now. Doesn't sound like much but the included screenshots look great. Also, new sky.
The "every other Friday" devblog was missed last Friday, but they have returned. Collision improvements: https://steamcommunity.com/games/228380/announcements/detail/1642035487147320933 TLDR: We can now make low riders without modding experience simply by landing on an opponents vehicle.
https://steamcommunity.com/games/228380/announcements/detail/1615015161609500330 They are adding some tracks from the Very Track Pack and the mod creator is helping Bugbear add animated props to levels.
The devblogs have dropped off for the last month or so - make of that what you will. In unrelated news, Wreckfest is currently 50% off at the time of this post, and will remain so until the 15th of June, 2019. If you've been watching this thread and are on the fence about buying, that might sway you.
Reported that lots of people get crashed to desktop when going to settings menu, what had caused this?
Back on sale again... 50% off until July 9, 2019. Still no sign of any updates or information on the devblog, although while perusing it, I found mention of the game crashing in specific cases when entering the settings menu - but that issue was supposedly fixed in the latest hotfix (August 21, 2018).
After played a few hours of Wreckfest I can tell this game is somewhat between racing game and simulation. Vehicle handling is not as good as beamNG, the moment of inertia is too high, making turning sluggish, even in tarmac. However, the transition from grip to slide is more gentle. The handling is not easy at all, you have to slowdown as much as in BeamNG, and RWD vehicle oversteer a lot if you turn off all of the assists(ABS ESC TC). The problem is it has no weight transfer simulation, you cannot lift-off oversteer an FWD vehicle. In terms of damage modeling, vehicle in Wreckfest is stronger than BeamNG counterparts. The vehicles will be destroyed but requires more hits than IRL, for game balance obviously. However, the damage is very detailed, it just need more hits to destroy it, the destruction itself is close to real life. The vehicle parts such as engine, gearbox, suspension and brake fails gradually during a race as a results of constant collisions. For example the engine damage, which is better than BeamNG, it only lose a few horsepower when radiator blown, until to a very inconsistant output at low oil pressure. In BeamNG, the engine can only be destroyed, of not damaged at all after an impact, there's nothing in between. And if the radiator was hit in Beam regardless of a small leak or big rupture that affect the leak rate, doesn't affect the final cooling efficiency.
Apparently we’re getting a couple new cars but it looks like there’s gonna also be a dlc (maybe even multiple) which is kinda disappointing as I already payed almost $40 for this game.
I heard a couple new event cars (the motor home being one) One reward car for completing career mode (I guess it's the Corvette) And some other stuff No news about paid DLC that I know of. IMO the game is overpriced, so that really would be a let down.
