At WWDC19, Apple announced that controller/mouse support would be added in to iPad OS. BeamNG.drive could be compatible with iPad OS since controller support has been confirmed. The game could be compatible with this and have the main files installed into the Files app. Mods wouldn't be a problem either. You could download them and when you're on the download page you could select "Copy to BeamNG.drive" and it would be installed. Keyboard shortcuts will be available in the menu. Is this possible?
Aside from peripheral support, most likely not. BeamNG, a windows application (.exe), would not be compatible on iPadOS. Even if it would run, the hardware in a modern iPad is probably not powerful enough to get decent performance, or even at all.
Apple separated the operating system for iPhones (iOS) and iPads (iPadOS) since their different so much now.
Unless apple decides to support DirectX/exe file types and improved the iPad’s specs, it won’t happen.
The only way to do this is if you run beam on a windows PC and control it remotely with a TeamViewer-like app through the iPad
Yeah iPadOS cannot run Windows EXEs, additionally beaming is a Windows x86/x86_64 binary, iPadOS needs ARM64. iPadOS cannot run downloaded iPadOS applications either, they must pass signature verification from their official app store. iPads are not powerful enough to run BeamNG
iPadOS is nice and all, I've been using it for the past two weeks. Apart from an iPad not being able to run BeamNG because, well, iPadOS isn't windows and it would need a complete rebuild, an iPad is not strong enough to run BeamNG (thats a long ass sentence lol)
Technically the iPad could run BeamNG, you would need to recompile BeamNG for ARM64, and also ios is quite a tightly nit app environment, i think the appstore might have limits on how much power a game uses, maxing the CPU and GPU at the same time might not be good, esp for iPad (passive device, performance would drop off). But it's a huge hassle, better question is getting a surface pro and seeing how beamNG runs on that, and thats probably what you should expect performance wise (not great!), intel sunnycove and it's better GPU performance will hopefully give the next wave of expensive tablets a good run for beamNG
Well, even if you got all the software stuff worked out, wouldn't hardware still be an issue? I have a Mini 4 from 2016 and that thing struggles running games way less resource intensive than BeamNG.
