very nice map! i rlly like the truckstop. (i put it in my mods folder thing and it didnt go into the game pls help XD)
If you mean those hideous clusters of buildings, that's a good idea. Otherwise not. Also, we need a closed road layout (so no roads end in the middle of nowhere) And, some buildings (school, post office, etc.) should fill in all that empty space.
Alright, the new update is now out! This one focuses on expanding the map, rather than on content, so I haven't updated the images in the OP. At any rate, you'll find most of the new stuff well enough on your own. Also, there are two blocks that have nothing at all within them, and lack curbs or sidewalks. This is Viaduct Town. Needless to say, I was not planning to leave this blank, but not everything that was planned made it into this update. No, not in the map proper. The final version will have some apartment towers off-map, as a gradual transition between the full-force residential districts of Garfield Heights and the city's central business district. The 'downtown' of the map proper will have some apartments, townhouses, and duplexes, along with a hotel, however. A closed road layout isn't gonna happen. The map's got too many open sightlines, and is based on a grid, so soft transitional corners meant to fool the player into thinking that they're driving through a place (rather than around the edge of one) won't work. The original plan for the map was for it to adopt what I call the 'limited access border system,' a doctrine which states that it's my job as the map creator to let the player know where the map proper ends, not to keep them from going past it. Many of the now dead-end roads will eventually continue on into the low-detail background mesh, with only a chicane of jersey barriers or a jump to hold the player back. Even the freeway will be partly cordoned off, so that the player can use it while still being within the 'soft border.' And yes, the empty space will be filled. Thus the WIP title tag.
Okay, barriers are fine with me Perhaps you could make it so the freeway got damaged to make the cordoning off look "natural."
You look under the attached file sign, then click what is under the attached file sign. After it is downloaded put it in your mods folder in your BeamNG.drive folder in Documents.
The new update looks great Nice work as usual I did just have one curiosity about this map. Is there a cubemap? If so, is the cubemap, is it subject to change? I was just wondering as since the very first wip release, the cars have always looked a bit dull on this map. Where as on your previous map "Matrix Freeway", the cars look great.
No, the map has the generic official cubemap. I just derped and used the wrong official cubemap. Sometime about a year into Beam's post-release development, the cubemaps got updated from this: to this: The latter, of course, being more expressive. I've just released a mini-patch to address this issue and the cubemaps should now be much improved. Speaking of years, it's been about one year since the first release of this map. Still less than half done, but much improved.
