Working on my new project after my successful ETK S-Series Security. Here's some progress. Any suggestions or constructive criticism?
Is it going to remain RWD? A super long driveshaft can cause problems. I believe that most limos are converted to be FWD
IIRC, the Cadillac DTS Limos were FWD from the original car itself, along with some others, like the Volvo S80 limo I've seen pics of. The Lincoln Towncars stayed RWD, and the stretched driveshaft of course had to be strengthened, since generally it'd be way too much work to convert those to FWD, though I'd assume the newer MKT Limos are FWD.
You might want to look at this thread to fix the smoothing groups, makes it much nicer:http://www.beamng.com/threads/how-to-correctly-import-export-official-vehicles-via-blender.14793/ Otherwise looks pretty good, I would stretch it by twice as much, having a longer limo would be cooler than a shorter but albeit more practical one.
I know about the smoothing groups. I'll fix that soon. Im also making it longer. I don't really like long vehicles. --- Post updated --- And of course having troubles with edge split. Applying edge split is perfectly normal but when I select all and click make links and clicking on modifiers doesn't do crap. Followed everything from the exporting tutorial. Looked on google and found nothing but the same method or downloading addons.
Try: Select one object without it Put the modifier on Press A (to deselect) Press A again (to select all) Press CTRL-L and then select Modifiers You may have hit a button in between or been in edit mode, Blender is pretty picky about the small details.
Im quite happy now. Finally in game shots of the limo. Obviously not Jbeamed so its going to look ugly and edge split isn't applied yet but i'll have things done soon. Oh my god, edge split makes things so much better.
They're horrible affronts on car-kind and they're cancerous scars on the face of the Earth, but... They're there.
